Kelly
Ramon Ozambela, Ph.D.
Dr.
Kelly Ramón Ozambela is Site Director and clinician for Behavioral
Health at the Falls Family Practice & Counseling Network (FPCN). As
a Federally Qualified Health Center in the East Falls section of
Philadelphia, their mission is to serve a predominantly low-income
and ethnically diverse public housing community. The FPCN has been
recognized by the American Psychiatric Association as a model for
providing psychological services to minority populations. Kelly has
also served as an adjunct instructor in the Counseling Psychology
Program at Temple University. He is past
Co-Chair Elect of the Latino Network of the
American College and Personnel
Association Committee for
Multicultural Affairs.
Kelly has taught counseling courses in
Introduction to Counseling, Professional Issues in Agencies,
Psychology of Adjustment, and Multicultural Issues in Therapy.
Kelly has been invited as a guest lecturer on multicultural and
Latino issues in graduate courses, and has participated in
presenting on multicultural issues at national conferences (including
ACA, ACPA, NCORE, and the Cross-Cultural Winter Round Table) on
over a dozen occasions. Kelly’s emerging research interests include
multicultural counseling competence, Latino/a psychology, racial and
ethnic identity development, multicultural competence in primary
care settings, and counselor training and supervision. Consultation
interests include organizational and staff development within
primary care and mental health care settings with an emphasis on
enhancing practitioners’ intercultural communication, management of
cross-cultural issues impacting treatment compliance, and addressing
complex cultural issues within organizations.
Dr. Ozambela is a graduate of the
Ph.D. Counseling Psychology program at Temple University in
Philadelphia where he was a Future Faculty Fellow.
He completed his pre-doctoral internship
at the University of Florida Counseling Center. Prior to his
doctoral training, he was a student
affairs professional in the Office of Residence Life at the
University of Delaware until 1996. He graduated from the Masters in
Counseling program in 1994 from the Center for Excellence in
Education at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Kelly obtained his bachelor’s
degree in psychology from Northern Michigan University in Marquette
in 1992. |
