Our Training Approach
In our work with such diverse
organizations as Quest Diagnostics and Leadership Philadelphia, Inc.
we
offer two general types of services, depending upon our clients' needs
and resources. The first is a comprehensive, organization-wide approach
based on our developmental model, The Change Process©.
The second approach involves the development of specific programs
targeted to address identified issues, or the needs of various groups
within the corporation such as: front line staff, supervisors or
administrators. The following briefly outlines our comprehensive
services. Other specific programs can be designed when the organization
- wide approach is not feasible
Comprehensive Services (A 3-Part Approach)
I
Cultural Audit:
This audit is conducted across the organization, spans direct-serve
staff through top-level administration. We highly recommend a cultural
audit in order to gather data that brings to light perceptions;
attitudes, behaviors and knowledge about diversity issues and systems
that are working as well as where there are barriers to managing and
valuing diversity.
II Standard Diversity Training Program: This
program is comprised of two modules, each involving a one or two day
training session.
Module 1: Developing Awareness is designed to raise
awareness and provide information about cultural differences and
racial/cultural identity development.
Module II: Understanding Behavior, continues on the
knowledge gained in Module I, and focuses on the cultural meaning and
implications of everyday interactions, behaviors and communication
styles.
III Evaluation and Next Steps:
This final phase involves a formal evaluation of the program
by all participants which is summarized in written form and used as the
basis for an in-depth debriefing and future planning meeting. These next
steps may include designing and implementing a training of trainers
program, development of a leadership series, construction of, and
consultation to a Diversity Advisory/Action Council or as needed
consultation and programming on discrete identified areas.
